Chris Long was raised in Vestal, New York and graduated from Lehigh University earning a bachelor’s degree in Design Arts and Digital Imaging. His educational experience exposed him to a variety of trades including metalworking, woodworking, sculpture, graphics, film editing, and photography. Chris also has extensive experience working with a contractor which has enabled him to learn

many aspects of the construction trade. After graduation, he moved to Portland, Oregon and worked as a tilesetter. This gave him the opportunity to further learn the trade and create many beautiful kitchens and baths.
Chris currently resides in Ithaca, New York where he is now pursuing his mosaic artwork professionally. He is also immersed in other artistic pursuits including photography, sculpture, and painting. As a result of his design, artistic, and construction experience, the architectural applications of mosaic works greatly interest him. Chris’s appreciation of the natural world and his love of music are clearly reflected in his artwork.

Exploring the world through photography has also been a passion for the artist. Ever since he first used a camera, Chris has found this medium the best way to express the inherent beauty in all things. This beauty is always present and Chris strives daily to appreciate the absoluteness and benevolence of it all in his approach to both his artwork and his life.
